Havant College Celebrates Oxbridge Success!

Havant College is proud to announce that twelve students have been made offers to study at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge in 2008. Mathematics proved to be the most successful subject with two students being accepted by Oxford and two by Cambridge. We were particularly delighted by the students who got in to study Aeronautical Engineering and Architecture. The other successful candidates will study History, Law, Chemistry, Medicine, Natural Sciences and Politics, Philosophy and Economics.Preparation for university entrance is Havant Colleges’ specialism and last year was awarded the Matrix quality mark for all its information, advice and guidance services. Students who do apply to Oxbridge are given expert one-to-one coaching is preparation for the application process.James McInnes, Oxbridge co-ordinator at the college, is very pleased with this years’ success. “Havant College is committed to supporting every student who is thinking seriously about making an application to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. In 2007-2008 we had 70 students who discussed applying and 40 actually did so (12 of them were successful). As well as meeting with Oxbridge staff, all students get individual help with all aspects of their application, from filling in the UCAS forms, applying to the individual College, preparing for the tests or writing the essays to practice interviews. We are always ready to talk to the students and give them the best advice we can.”Havant Colleges’ Open Evening is taking place on Thursday 6th March 6.30 – 9pm, where both parents and students can find out more information on all the courses, explore the campus and meet our teaching staff.
